Ranieri Villa 473

Rented Tuscany Villas > Ranieri Villa
In May 2011 we had a group of 19, mostly from Australia, and enjoyed our time at the villa enormously. Luca and his team were very helpful and made sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. We arranged for them to prepare a dinner one night and it was terrific. Well worth doing. Everyone had a fabulous time travelling around the countryside and eating and drinking to our heart's content, either on the terrace and garden, or in the kitchen dining room. The weather was quite warm so we also enjoyed the pool nearly every day. The house is beautifully renovated without being too fussy, and we were very happy with the accommodation. We would all revisit in a heart beat next time in Tuscany. Sue (and 18 others) in Melbourne.

Villa Elisa, was an excellent choice for us. I spent 3 weeks in April there with friends and relations who spent 4 days to 10 days with me. Sergio, the co-owner, was friendly and helpful and he and his girlfriend, Allesandra, were very thoughtful and kind to us. The location of the villa is quite secluded which we really liked but it was quite a walk into the old town of Montepulciano way up on the hill. The property around the villa is beautifully maintained by Sergio and Allesandra. When the roses bloom likely by mid to late May they would be spectacular. We enjoyed the wonderful fireplace almost every night of the 3 weeks, ending our day in front of it with a glass of Lemoncello or Sambucca. The villa's location in Montepulciano worked really well for what we wanted to see. I rented a car for all 3 weeks and we explored several towns and the countryside of southern Tuscany and into Umbria. The train station in Chiusi Scalo took a little longer to drive to than anticipated, about 35 to 40 minutes, and I was back and forth a handful of time picking up and dropping off the friends who came to stay with me. We would defintely return to Villa Elisa again in the futre.

My extended family and I spent two weeks at San Donato in August of 2011. The first week we had 14 people (10 adults, 4 kids) and rented both houses; the second week we had 10 people and comfortably used just the large house. Our initial impression of the homes and property were well above our expectations, as the photos on the site just can't do justice to the gorgeous views of the valley and vineyards surrounding the villa. Each of the bedrooms has air conditioning units, which we occasionally used at night. Even in August, the houses were very comfortable throughout the day, with the doors open and air moving throughout. The large house also has two kitchens; we primarily used the smaller one overlooking the courtyard. At the end of our stay, Inge (the caretaker) came to the property and gave us a wonderful cooking 'class', and we used the larger kitchen toward the center of the house. Both are functional and well equipped. One of our favorite parts of the property was the outdoor seating area off the smaller house, which we used for dinner each evening. The view over the valley was breathtaking, and was precisely what we would have hoped for. Our other favorite area was the pool, which again is much more impressive than the photos on the site. As it sits on a terrace on a hill, it gives the impression of an 'infinity' pool with the same views of the countryside. The smaller house is more updated, and was comfortable for the family of 4 that joined us for the first week. Beyond the houses and pool, the property is surrounded by vineyards owned by a small winery just up the road. We visited the winery during our visit, and while it's not up to the standards of the more well-known wine regions, it was walkable from the house and a nice way to spend the afternoon. We enjoyed walks every day through various areas of the property and into San Donato. San Donato itself is a tiny town. There are a few shops, a cafe/bar, church, etc. Don't plan on being able to fully stock the fridge from the shops in town - plan on one of the larger supermarkets in toward Florence. We would wander in for staples - bread, milk, wine, cheese, pasta, fresh fruit, etc. There is a bus service that runs from San Donato into Florence throughout the day (although interpreting the bus schedule - peak/non-peak/holiday etc - was a bit of a challenge, even for a group of fairly intelligent adults). It was 1-3 Euros each way, depending on where you buy the ticket. All in all, it was an absolutely wonderful two weeks, and our group was perfectly happy splitting time between day trips (Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa, Cinque Terra, Chianti, Lucca, Greve, etc), and spending time at the house by the pool. Inge was a wonderfully responsive caretaker, and although she only spoke limited English, we had rather enjoyable conversations in English/Italian/German/and hand gestures! Definitely book a cooking lesson - and do it early in your trip! Thanks again for a very memorable experience! Tim Farrell

Rented Tuscany Villas > VILLA NOBILE
We had a marvellous stay with a large number of family members celebrating our 50th and our son's 25th wedding anniversaries. The villa was ideal and our hosts gave us cooking coaching and a day trip to vineyards etc around the area. The weather that day was grim but we still had a great time. Arezzo was a most pleasant town within walking distance of the villa. The local football club laid on a great meal for 30 people on our last night. Altogether a superb week which should have been longer. Cheers, Chris wright.

We enjoyed our two weeks in San Donato. The villa is well set up, and apart from a few teething problems things worked out well. We believe it is essential to have a car. The situation of the villa is lovely and the gardens and pool well maintained.

We had a great stay and our hosts were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was exactly as advertised on line, scenic and peaceful. The location was central to Sienna and Florence and the roads in the country were not as scary as we feared. We do suggest taking the bus to Florence to save the hassle of finding a park. A pleasant five minute walk to a small mini mart, ten minute walk to a restaurant and a ten minute drive to larger shops and a supermarket at Tavernelle. I was one of a party of four and we all have no hesitation in recommending Poggio Sole.

We spent some beautiful days in Tuscany, staying at Angelo. The house has all the needed facilities and the surrounding area is gorgeous...We enjoyed a lot the silence of this location. Also we took advantage of the Saint Angelo Wellness Centre, where we enjoyed the swimming pool, the sauna and of course the massage sessions offered by a professional... And last but not least, we benefited all our holiday, from the outstanding benevolence and kindness of the Saint Angelo's administrators (Mr Stefano and his wife). They responded promptly and kindly to all our requests.

We took my husband's parents for their first trip to Italy and stayed at Elisa, a most wonderful, spacious and secluded (yet very convenient for the town) Villa near Montepulciano. Even though we were very late, we were met by the owner who was very friendly and helpful and we were all very charmed by the property. Lots of spacious, beautifully furnished rooms, a kitchen fully stocked with crockery and utensils and a fabulous garden where we sat out and had breakfast every day. We even saw a wild boar in the garden!! My inlaws were blown away they had such a marvellous time and we spend most days driving from hill top town to hill top town. The convenience of this location is second to none and I would certainly say that Montepulciano is one of the prettiest and most interesting of Tuscan towns and wine producing areas. The house and the town come very highly recommended and there are lots of restaurants to try out. We would really recommend a visit to Barbi vineyard in Montalcino and the incredible restaurant there (Fattoria dei Barbi). The agency was very efficient and trustworthy and I would not hesitate to make another booking through them on our next trip to Italy. Thank you so much to the agency and to owner for making our stay very special.

Rented Tuscany Villas > Villa Montepulciano
Our stay at the villa exceeded our expectations. Maurizio is a delightful and thoughful host. The property is in an incredibly beautiful site and the villa is WAY bigger than it looked in the photos. The location is perfect for exploring southern Tuscany from Perugia to Siena. The nearby towns offered dozens of restaurant choices, but we spent most evenings on the patio enjoying the sun set over Montepulciano.

Views superb, villa very clean, facilities excellent especially the pool, vinyards outstanding as was the complimentary host vinyard wine supplied on arrival. Hosts extremely nice family, very respectful of your wishes and very helpful with local knowledge. Neighbours very helpful to tourists also. The whole holiday was made very easy to organise by the agency and we would reccommend their services. Attention to finer detail by the agency and the host family made it a great family holiday. Well done by all.
