Just a short note to say how enjoyable our stay at Sara di Siena was. It is an ideal location from which to explore Tuscany and we tried to see as much as we could during our stay.
Could you please give our sincere thanks to Antonella for providing a delicious meal on our first night.
Our only comment would be that a microwave oven in the kitchen and some fans for the bedrooms (on the hot summer nights) would have been welcomed.(The owner bought fans and microwave the week later. Update Tuscan Villas)
We have all returned home safely to Australia and have resumed our daily lives but still have very fond memories of Tuscany and Sara di Siena.

| Kirkland, USA POSTED: 23/04/2008 There is an alimentari (small grocery store) in Casetta just down the hill form the villa (don't expect anyone to speak English here!), but we really used the larger grocery stores in the retail area just off the motorway in Siena Ovest (follow the signs for Porto San Marcos). To avoid driving into Siena, go to Siena Ovest, follow signs to Porto San Marcos, and then follow signs to "S. Caterina" parking lot. There are escalators to take you all the way up near the Campo. Brilliant! We also loved San Gusme and Castle Brolio, which are very near the villa; even Castelnuovo Berardenga was charming. Go down behind the Parco Thermale Ristorante near the villa's local roundabout and you will find the thermal waters; we didn't try them but the area is interesting. Great walking path leads from there; turn right at the far end of the stream-side path onto a dirt track that brings you back up the hill to the villa. Lovely walk! There is a gleaming Co-op grocery store just off the autostrada in Poggibonsi (about 40 minutes drive from villa). A bit of a distance but oh the selection!
Villa was lovely and exactly as shown in photos. The location is wonderful. Very easy access to Siena and anywhere else you want to go. We loved using the fireplace! Having 3 bathrooms was a delight for two families. There is a gorgeous family of pheasants living near the villa. |
