Podere Pomaia

Villa name:

Podere Pomaia

This vacation farmhouse rental is a family affair, lovingly restored by the owner himself to showcase not only the rustic aspects of the interior but also the historic treasures found while working the area. This is an ideal solution for a large group or family looking for a holiday home in a central position, near Arezzo, between Florence and Siena with lots of personal charm. The family works the surrounding land and produce a large variety of organic products - which are all available for taste testing on the property. The farmhouse is set on two floors and the main entrance on the ground floor opens to a large dining room area where the entire group can participate in making pizzas in the wood burning stove or grilling up some of the famous Tuscan beefsteak.

Only a few km from Arezzo makes this a great place for day trips or an evening out on the town visiting the local Tuscan restaurants and Italian cafe. Arezzo is well known for the monthly antique fair and the active summer calendar with concerts and outdoor activities. The Owner accepts Credit Card payment for the balance on Site!

Beckenham, UK, POSTED: 30/09/2008 The views from the villa are amazing. Monica and Iacobo are friendly, welcoming people. It was wonderful to arrive at the villa and see the dining table set up for dinner, with a delicious lasagne, wine, olive oil, cheeses and a pudding. They were always there to give advice or make reservations at restaurants. They also supplied us with organic produce from the gardens and home made foccacia.
Kanata, Canada, POSTED: 19/09/2008 Fabulous villa. Attention to detail both inside and out is first class. The property is very private, quiet and relaxing The views of Arezzo are spectacular. As are the views from anywhere on the property. The location was perfect for day trips to Florence, Siena, and Cortona. Be sure to check out the wonderful little markets in neighbouring towns. The owners, Iacopo and Monica are such generous people. The amazing meal that awaited us on our arrival. Their time and advice on places to visit and restaurants to try. They even organized a wine tasting trip for our party to the Chianti area. And with their homegrown produce. We would find a regular supply of freshly picked strawberries and vegetables outside the villa during our two week stay, and the best baked fruit pie ever. We wanted a family reunion to remember, and thanks to their family and their beautiful villa, ours was perfect.
Washington, USA, POSTED: 06/09/2008 The pictures do not do the villa justice! It was so pretty and the view of Arezzo was amazing. Monica and Iacopo are the perfect hosts - they made sure we ate well and were always around if we needed them. If you go into Arezzo (which everyone should) there is a great restaurant in the old section on the way to San Francesco square. It's called "Bacco & Arianna"; and is on the left side of the street right before the piazza. Cortona was beautiful and close by! If you follow the wine tour on the villa's website, DEFINITELY stop in Civitella and eat lunch at L'Antico Borgo!

Hannibal, USA, POSTED: 16/10/2007 Our villa experience was everything we wanted it to be. The location of the villa is great, it allows for easy day trips to other Tuscan sites. The hosts of the villa are excellent and can offer many useful suggestions as far as sightseeing and resturants. We hope to return and relive the experience again. Iacopo and Monica are wonderful hosts and will do what ever they can to make your experience a wonderful one. The setting of the villa is Beautiful and quite private. No concerns to pass on.
lumberton, usa, POSTED: 18/09/2007 The villa is gorgeous. It's clean and comfortable with incredible charm and ambiance. The setting is fantastic and it infuses you with a sense of warmth, comfort and well-being. It feeds your soul. The hosts - the wonderful Monica and Iacopo, feed not only your soul but your palate as well with their scrumptious meals and fresh offerings from their garden. They were so helpful and welcoming and incredibly generous with their time and attention to detail. They provided us a most wonderful, memorable experience. They are a blessing and a treasure. My advice would be to explore the surrounding areas (incredible ancient hilltop towns and scenic drives - including the mountains to the East - particularly La Verna - but to leave suffiecient amount of time to return to Podere Pomaia to enjoy the beautiful experience it offers - watching the beautiful sunsets, drinking in the gorgeous scenery while drinking their delicious wine, and drinking in the incredible beauty the villa and landscape provide. Heavenly!
New York, USA, POSTED: 28/08/2007 If you're flying into Florence, you can either rent a car and drive (it will take about 1.5 hours) or take the train to Arezzo and then a cab to the villa. We highly recommend having at least a few cars in your party if you're interested in doing any sight seeing - Cortona and Siena are great places for day trips, but are at least an hour from the villa by car. The train is a great option for guests arriving at different times - also, you won't be able to fit 4 people and their luggage in most rental cars. If you have the option of renting GPS along with your car, definitely do! It cost us about 50 euros for the week and took a lot of the stress out of navigating the local streets.
The villa itself was fantastic - wonderfully restored and very private. Perfect setup for either a group of friends or a family trip. Monica and Iacopo were wonderful hosts, they made great suggestions of restaurants and places to visit. We highly recommend scheduling dinners at the villa. We did one on the night that we arrived that was prepared for us and waiting in the villa - we just had to heat it up and eat - it was great to not worry about what to do for dinner after a long day of travel. We also had a sit down dinner in the "Boghettina" 4 courses with fresh pasta and vegetables from the garden. Grazie!!
worthington, usa, POSTED: 15/07/2007 Because of the location of Podere Pomaio (wonderful view of Arezzo), it is necessary to rent a car! Villa - beautifully restored, truly Tuscan, rustic, charming! beautiful grounds, private, very reasonable priced. Most gracious hosts - baked several cakes/tortes for us; entertained us with Tuscan pizza and wonderful stories of the history of their farm; delivered freshly-picked fruits and vegetables
London, UK, POSTED: 22/10/2006 Exquisite local restaurant with pool just further up the road - run by the owner's brother and well worth a lazy afternoon's visit.
Phenomenal scenery - excelletn location on hillside with breathtaking views over the Tuscan farmland and vineyards.
Lumberton, USA, POSTED: 22/10/2006 Beautiful villa with so much charm. Peaceful setting transformed all 10 of us so much so that we didn't want to leave. Be sure to order a dinner through the owners. Excellent food at reasonable prices. Perfect to do on the way in and last evening.
Ely, UK, POSTED: 19/10/2006 The villa was perfect, scenery stunning and our host, Monica, couldn't have been more obliging. I would recommend it highly.
Lisse, Netherlands, POSTED: 27/08/2004 Just wanted to follow up after our trip... the house is great, better than on the internet (which does not happen often) and Jacopo and family were great!

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves & will recommend to others. We enjoyed the wine & cheese tasting, an evening of pizza making and a traditional Tuscany dinner - they are all so worth it!

Other than the last bit all the planning/organization was very efficient and went smoothly.

Thanks, Julie
