As a special service for our guests we organize whine tasting tours to famous Tuscan wineries in different regions of Tuscany. The tour includes transportation in a vehicle with AC from your pick-up point that will be arranged individually.
An English speaking tour guide will stay with your for the whole trip. Typically we start in the morning around 10 o clock and drive to the first winery for a wine tasting together with a light lunch. There will be time for a visit in town and time for shopping. In the afternoon we will visit two more wineries in different near by locations. It is possible to book wine tours in Southern Tuscany, Chianti Classico, Colli Senesi and the Bolgheri Area on the coast.
Southern Tuscany wine tour MONTEPULCIANO and PIENZA
The very famous Nobile wine area includes Montepulciano, a charming town with a large number of Renaissance buildings and churches. This is one of the highest Tuscan hill towns at 665m and the town is a picturesque view of a well restored and maintained postcard of yesteryear. This tour of southern Tuscany begins with the wine town of Montepulciano and the fascinating "cantinas" located in the basement of the many historic buildings.
You can visit some of them and learn lot about the specialties of this unique wine. The tour guide usually has a large knowledgebase on wine production, cultivation and local flavours.
Usually each hand selected vineyard offers 4 different wines to taste, typically a full bodied red, a younger red, a white wine (depending on the winery) and their signature wine. The vineyards are selected for their innovative products, their position and their wide selection - allowing you an excellent opportunity to dive into the enormous selection of wine with confidence and fun!
From Montepulciano the tour leads you to the surrounding countryside and show you Pienza and some other Tuscan hill towns with important wine, cheese or olive oil production. Moving along to Pienza, one is treated to what was conceived as a Utopian "New Town" 300 years ago, by Pope Pius II , who thought to honour his hometown by rebuilding it bigger and better than before.
