Montespertoli - a charming village that tastes like the Florentine countryside with its delicious Chianti wine, food, olive oil and festivals
Known by its majestic towers that cut the hilly landscape, visible from long distances, this UNESCO mankind patrimony hides much of the Tuscan culture!
The villa owners as very frinedly, obliging and cook great food. The pizza night they offer at their nearby house is a delight for all the family not to be missed.
15 July 2006Susan Cole, Malvern, AustraliaBella Sosta is handy to Certaldo for a quick hill town visit, San Giminano for a longer day trip and an easy drive to Florence or Sienna. Best supermarket in the district was in Poggibonsi although Castelfiorentino is OK for supplies too. Not many local restaurants of note but a few friendly cafes nearby. The villa hosts have a comprehensive menu & will either conduct a cooking class for you or simply cater - very charming & friendly people who live in a detached house but don't intrude. This villa is worth it for the stunning views alone, but the fact that it was an ancient hayloft perfectly restored 5 years ago in the traditional Tuscan style makes it very comfortable & functional as well as charming.
Renai (the actual village - 4km out of Castelfiorentino) is a quiet rural village, surrounded by olives, vines & rolling hills. The villa has a few English DVDs & books to while away the hours if a relaxing holiday is what you're after. The pool is pristine, the villa spotless & garden kept manicured.
