This majestic villa is located near Populonia, a fortified village built during the medieval time on the top of a hill by the ocean over the ruins of an ancient Etruscan town that dates back more than 2000 years. It’s a fascinating place with a gorgeous view over the sea and the old “Acropoli” (an Etruscan city) which is still well preserved. It is part of the Archaeological Park of “Baratti e Populonia”. 2 miles from the house, bearing the coast, there is the “Necropoli”, which means the place where the Etruscans used to make their thumbs.
In all Etruscan settlements you have to pass their cemetery (Necropoli) beforeyou can reach the city. This was the way of worshiping their ancestors who constructed the actual city. Entering from the main door, on the left side there is a large dining room with a massif wood table and chairs for a group of 10 to 12 people. This room has also a big door to the garden, in case you prefer to make barbecue outside but eat inside.
Due to his large natural stone walls the inside the house remains very fresh even in hot summer days. On the ground floor there is one double bedroom and one bathroom with a bathtub, in case there are guests that have difficulties to use the staircase you have a ground floor bedroom In the back, there is an access to a large room, the ancient stables, now an empty space or service area, or a large room for the kids to play in case of bad weather, it has a big door opening into the garden. Here you have a sink, 2 washing machines, a vacuum cleaner and some equipments for housekeeping.
The house is located in the country side but really close to the beach. The famous beachfront town of San Vincenzo stays only 17 km up the coast. From Populonia in southern direction you find Piombino only 14 km distant, the harbour where you can take a boat trip to the Island of Elba, one of the real beautiful places in Tuscany. Populonia Villa is really spacious and surrounded by a large park, completely fenced in, where you can sunbath, kids can play or you can have lunch or dinner all together in the outside barbecue area.
There is a covered area with tables and chairs, many old trees that give you natural shadow, you will find umbrellas, sun-beds and chairs for you pleasure to enjoy the mild Tuscan climate. You have also a ping-pong table available for kids (or adults) to organize your Tuscan Holliday Pingpong Event.
From the main door, you access the staircase right in front of you, that brings you to the first floor. On the first floor there is a kitchen fully equipped with refrigerator and freezer, stove and electric oven, dishwasher, table and chairs for 8 persons. The second door to the right is a living room, with sofas and armchairs, Italian TV, a big traditional Tuscan fireplace and a big table where you find books about Tuscany, Italy, art, places to visit and much more.
From the living room there is access to a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom, with WC, sink bidet and shower box. The bathroom has also a second door to the corridor, so it can be used as an en suite bathroom or as a separated bathroom, closing the door inside the bedroom, according to your needs.
Then you have a twin bedroom that is also connected to the third bathroom and over a small corridor with the two bedrooms in the back. The third bathroom is the biggest and centraly located, it has a shower box, 2 sinks, WC and bidet. It can be reached directly by the two twinn bedrooms and the single bedroom on this floor.
This bedroom has a single bed and a crib, when it is necessary. It has 2 large windows overlooking to the garden. In total there are 2 baby cribs available and a fold out extra bed for an adult. Included in the rental price there are 3 hours of maid service daily from Monday to Friday. The maid is also a great cook and if you want a typical Tuscan meal or a Seafood dinner let her know. Prices are very reasonable.
This house is perfect for a large group or families travelling together. You will find a lot of privacy in the house and in the garden and all the space you want to stay together with the group. Up to 9 adults and 2 babies will have a great time in this splendid Tuscan beach rental.
The location of this Villa makes it very easy to reach the sandy beaches of the Baratti Bay within 10 minutes walk on a small gravel road. From the Villa it leads directly to the ocean passing trough fields and pin tree forests. The Baratti Bay is a great place for a family with kids as the water is rather shallow and no big waves will reach it. It was an ancient Etruscan harbour and you still can see many underwater relics from this time.
The ancient Etruscan fortress of POPULONIA is less than 3 miles from the Villa and you should definitely visit it. The views are breathtaking and there are several very nice restaurants and shops inside the historic walls. There is also a noteworthy Etruscan museum that show you many interesting details on the Etruscan history and daily lifestyle.
You should also visit the TOMBE ETRUSCHE DI POPULONIA: the tombs that date back more than 2000 years. You will be amazed of this outstanding culture of the Etruscans. The actual name Toscana derives from the word Etruscan, here you are in the heart of Etruscan lands and settlements.
