On your way outside of Florence towards the rolling hills of southeast Tuscany and the vineyards of Ruffina - set on the edge of the Arno River just as it exists Pontesieve, you will find this restaurant. Great for large groups!
Great views, helpful hosts, plenty of room.
11 October 2008Heather Sainchuk, Edmonton, CanadaGreat little market Saturday morning in Greve.Greve also had a good bakery and meat store in the square. Very helpful people at the tourist bureau and the trip by bus into Florence was easy and cheap.
29 June 2008Alfred Oakland, Tucson, USAOnly the restaurant in Lamole was open, but the food was wonderful and we ate there twice. We wanted to eat and wine taste at Villamaggio, however reservations must be made at least a week ahead and we did not know this. It would be helpful to write that in descriptions of the villa. We ate at La Bottega in Volpaia, which was lovely and very reasonable. We took the dirt road from Lamole and were there in 15 minutes. We loved the farmhouse and felt right at home. The views are stunning.
28 May 2008Alberto Adam, Fredericksburg, USAThe St. Anna internet cafe was most helpful, good coffee, too. We enjoyed Ristoro di Lamole, good food and service.
25 November 2007Jonathan Breul, Washington, USAThe owner was very welcoming and helpful. Please note any concerns: None; it was simply marvelous
19 October 2007Sherri Dobbs, Regina, CanadaWe´ve enjoyed our stay very much, wonderful food, beautiful views!
The villa is in a quiet and remote location overlooking vineyards and olive groves. The washing machine in the villa did come in handy after two weeks of travelling. The owners were very friendly and helpful and welcoming. Information office in Greve was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful for directions, restaurants, shopping, wine tours etc. The two restaurants in Lamole were both excellent, friendly service in both English and italian.
10 August 2007Tim Tucker, Doha, Emirati ArabiIncredible if not the best views in Tuscany. Beautiful, quiet and picturesque location. Everything you need in and out of the villa. Short distance to fantastic dining in Lamole, Vignamaggio vineyards and close to Greve. We wanted to get away and relax and the villa did not dissapoint. Good luck trying to make yourself leave.....
28 May 2007George Neilson, Pennington, USAThe road to the villa from Greve was quite steep and twisty, but absolutely worth it. The view and seclusion were wonderful. The Ristoro di Lamole was just up the road less than 2 km and was fantastic. We ate there 3 times. The town of Greve, about 7 km, had everything that you would need - groceries, bank, bus, information. The owner of the villa met us there and explained everything to us. The villa was built is the 1300's, but very comfortable. We only had breakfast and snacks there, but it was well enough equipped to make meals. After spending a week in Tuscany, we decided that we had chosen the perfect base for our sightseeing.
20 October 2006HASAN HAMMAMI, PUNTA GORDA, USAThe nearby restaurant Lamole di Lamole is excellent and has sa small shop for minor shopping for refreshments, wine, water, coffee etc. The town of Greve, about 10 minutes by car was very easily accesible, and had more than adequate facilities, bank, pharmacy, cafes, grocery store, etc.
The owner's wife, Barbara was very friendly, helpful and available for queries when needed. The villa grounds have two fig trees and a walnut tree which we were offered to use, (wonderful). The villa was comfortable, though somewhat sparse. The gretest thing about it is the location, views, and places to see in short or longer walks, in the highlands of Tuscany, out of the way of the tourists.
