Valpiana is a charming Tuscan villa built in the 16th century, a typical Tuscan country house with its stone thick walls, “cotto toscano” (fired bricks) floors and wooden beamed ceilings. Located in the lovely hills of the Rufina region, the production area of the famous Chianti Rufina wines. In fact, the villa offers wonderful panoramic views from all sides.

One side faces the local vineyards, the back side overlooks the green valley below, and two sides face the villa’s own meadow and woods around it where it is possible to sunbath during the whole season or have moments of relax under the shady woods.

The main entrance with its massive wooden doors can even be kept opened all the time, as long as there are two internal brand new glass doors which open to the beautiful hall of original stone floor – a local grey stone called “serena” very frequent in the Tuscan country homes from that period.

The hall leads to the day time area of the villa located on the whole ground floor of the villa. It opens to a large living room with original archways, bricked floor and a huge stone semicircular fireplace.

To the left side of the hall you can reach the dining room and the kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with every necessary cook ware, table ware and household appliances: oven, stove, microwave, refrigerator with freezer box and sink.

The staircase leads to the first floor where you access a large room where you can spend some time with a book, playing cards or just chatting. This room leads to the bedrooms: 2 double bedrooms, 2 twin bedrooms and one single bedroom with an extra sliding bed – ideal for a young person.

Two double bedrooms face to the local vineyards; the twin bedrooms overlook the beautiful meadow with its local cypress trees and the hillside in front of the villa. The last two bedrooms, the single ones, faces the valley downhill.

Some have original “cotto” floors or renewed bricked floors, all have wooden beamed high ceilings. The windows are large and offer much sunlight inside the villa, but in the other hand, with the typical green shutters, it is possible to have a great afternoon snap without any problem.

The villa offers two recently renovated bathrooms, both are very modern and fully equipped with shower box, sink, mirror, WC and bidet.

The furniture follows the Tuscan style, with its wrought iron beds or cotton covered beds; massive wooden tables, chairs and dressers, offering a sober but welcoming environment in harmony with the local architecture.

The garden area is totally private, equipped with table, chairs and a barbecue structure available for outdoor eating, and reclining chairs for sunbathing in the meadow or relaxing under the shady woods, according to your needs.

The owner’s son and his family live close by in a charming renovated hayloft – totally independent from the villa so your privacy is guaranteed and in the same time you have someone very helpful, available for anything you need including tips about local wines and vineyards to visit.

If you want to spend a relaxing day sunbathing and swimming we suggest to go to Lake Bilancino, only 30 minutes drive from Londa, near Barberino di Mugello.

Lake Bilancino is the largest artificial lake in Tuscany.

On the shore of the lake and in its clean waters there are many activities you can do, such as bathing, canoeing, sailing windsurf, trekking, mountain bike.

Lake Bilancino is located in the uncontaminated natural enviroment of Mugello, full of cultural and artistic beauties.

The closest village is Londa, 3 km from the villa. The area is totally immersed in the Chianti Rufina production area; within an easy drive you find several wineries of Florence and Arezzo. Day trips of all kinds are easy and fun: from trekking or horse riding inside the Casentino National Park to historic and cultural tour in Florence, Arezzo, Poppi and Bibbiena, passing by a visit to a local winery and olive mill or a shopping tour in the Mall outlet with many Italian and international brands.
