Nothing fancy - in fact the Italians would call this a ristorante popolare, which means the restaurant for the common people. It is loaded with locals and has absolutely no dress code - great for kids or just bumming it.
Fattoria di Presciano has what is considered a historic cantina, built in the early 1900`s - and the owner is quite knowledgable about grapes and the wine making process, he is a little slow to warm up to but when you do it he is a bottomless pit of information, especially when you start discussing about the history of wine!
We loved Casa Ottavia. It was perfect for our family/group of 12, and my daughter was married there. The rooms are spacious. We loved the rustic feel of the home. It was so beautiful. The pool is gorgeous.
18 October 2008Jean Howson, Atlantic Highlands, USAOur favorite place to visit was Cortona (we had the wedding reception there, as well as lots of pictures). It is a very charming hill town about 7-8 miles down the street from the villa.
Wonderfully convenient for touring - less than 10 minutes from the Castiglion Fiorentino train station, and the buses than run between Arezzo and Cortona are just a short walk down to the road and very reliable. Beautiful bedrooms, really much nicer than the photos on the web! 14 adults were very comfortable. We all loved the gorgeous pool, outdoor seating, and the big yard areas.
