Carnival of Viareggio

The papier-mâché floats, which are the largest and bustle of the world, parade along the promenade of Viareggio. The Third parade of the 2011 broke all records, were in fact more than 325,000 people to applaud the papier-mâché floats that paraded along the promenade of Viareggio. The dates coincide with the month prior to Shrove Tuesday, the last day of Carnival, and then change every year.

NOZZANO Castle - Medieval re-enactment

The medieval town of "Nozzano Castello" (7 km from Lucca) will celebrate each year in September the period of its maximum glory and power in the 13th century. For this unique festival the whole town and the Castle are decorated and the inhabitants will dress historical costumes. You will enjoy jugglers, knights and all kind of medieval time entertainment. You will enjoy also typical food with street markets and typical restaurants, music shows, battles and jugglers shows. Even the currency will go back to 13th century. In fact you can’t pay with Euros, but you have to change them into will the coins of that period called: matildi, matildini, castrucci and sercambi.


Seravezza Jazz Festival

In the town of Seravezza (Lucca) in summer between July and August there are 4 appointments with Jazz music. Each concert starts at 9.30 PM and costs 10.- euro.

Puccini Festival

During July and August, in Torre del Lago – Lucca – is celebrated the Puccini Musical Festival. Enjoy famous opera pieces of the great artist Giacomo Puccini in the Gran Teatro all´aperto (open theater)

At the end of October there is Lucca Comics and Games festival: the international festival has long become a reference point for the cultural industry that ranges from comics to video games, from literature to cinema, to the music and the series tv. In a wonderful location, surrounded by the Renaissance walls of Lucca's historic center, with squares dedicated to sagas such as Star Wars, entire buildings and gardens turned into corners of Japan as Japan Town or in the offices of seven murders inspired by the French Revolution of the video game Assassin's Creed Unity, or the ramparts of the citadel animated by parades of colorful cosplayers and contained, with shows and exhibitions, concerts and karaoke contests.

Summer Festival

The largest and most important event in Tuscany, the Lucca Summer Festival, held every year in the historic center of Lucca, Piazza Napoleone and boasts the presence of international artists and, most important of the music scene of the time. Begins in late June and continues throughout the month of July.
