The name of the villa actually comes from the fact that it was once a mill for grinding grain. Set on three levels - each with direct access to the enormous shady garden surrounding the villa - you will literally find a treasure chest of ancient architectural structures well preserved.
Completely unique - is the pool area. The owner has diverted the mountain fresh water from the nearby stream and has filled up a panoramic pool set on the top floor of the villa and nestled into the hillside. The pool is continuously be refilled with beautiful crystal clear mountain water! There are lounge chairs all around the pool. You can get to it by an external stairwell or from one of the bedrooms. The pool has a deck area on three sides and the fourth side opens to the forest area that surround the villa.
The water that doesn't make it into the pool falls from a natural waterfall on the side, that you can admire from the garden area below.
Evenings in Tuscany can get a little cool - but with this outside fireplace to warm you up, you can spend the entire evening outside talking, cooking or just simply listening to the water as it flows below.
There are lots of places from all around the villa where you can relax in a quite little corner and talk to friends, read a book or simply enjoy the abundance of nature. This villa is great for those who are looking for some outdoor adventure, you will find paths to hike or bike, pools of fresh water in the stream below, sunny corners to sunbathe in private and if you like to capture nature this is a wonderland for the artist or photographer!
The large eat-in kitchen is a perfect example of how the Tuscan families used to live - everyone can participate in preparing the meal and experimenting with Italian recipes. The fireplace is not only great for warming you up on a cool day - but is perfect for a grilling a few steaks and baking the potatoes. There are many modern amenities including a large refrigerator, clothes washer and a dishwasher.
The kitchen has direct access to the large covered terrace, the back garden area and the stairs lead you into the living room and brand new sitting room area on the first floor.
The main entrance of the villa opens into the living room - but was once the main part of the mill, where the grain was actually crushed. In fact the main mechanism of the mill is still present in the middle of the living room which is furnished with a large sofa area and the SAT TV.
The owner worked hard to bring out many of the original architectural beauties of this villa - the brand new sitting room has been stripped down to its original state of river stone walls, furnished with lots of soft fluffy chairs and made perfect for the group to split up and visit.
There are five bedrooms in the villa - and they have all been soft colors, new mattresses and antique bed stands! There are 3 double bedrooms in the main house and two dependances connected with the house, each with one double bedroom. There are other 2 spaces with 1 single bed and 2 small beds for children + 1 bunk bed.
All the bathrooms are brand new - one has a shower and a great view of the garden area behind the villa.
The bedroom on the very top floor has a French door which walks out to the pool area!
The second sitting area with direct access to the front of the villa. Here you will find two bedrooms and two bathrooms.
The bathroom located on the top floor with the third bedroom, has a full size tub. Across from this bathroom there is another bedroom. It is designed for a single or small children.
The pool area is in a great panoramic spot, it gets lots of sun and offers a truly unique experience. You have constantly fresh water pouring into the pool and you have nature overlooking you the entire time.
Ask the owner to show you their sorgente, that is a fresh water supply. The water comes up from the ground and is always the perfect drinking temperature.
You will also find available a ping pong table, a volley ball court and a soccer field!
The position is great for visiting some of the truly beautifully places in Tuscany that are well hidden. In this area there are many hikes and bike paths that you can follow which will take you to ruined churches and monasteries. But if you prefer to drive to your destinations you are only a short trip to Arezzo, Poppi, Florence and Chianti.
The town of Talla is less than 4 km away and here you will find stores, restaurants and the largest cheese making consortium in the area, definitely worth a visit.
Your dog is gladly accepted at the house and can also have a swim but just in the biological pool.
The owner welcome you with a nice dinner at your arrival and you feel you are at home!
