This majestic Tuscan villa, of original architecture from the 14th century still preserves all characteristics of a typical manor house, with its fire bricked floors, vaulted ceilings and thick stone walls. The villa is decorated with original pieces of furniture from the 17th and 18th century. This villa is perfect for art lovers who wish to relax in a historical environment. Original frescoes and ceilings all covered with chestnut wood upstairs will give you the feeling that you have literally stepped back into time.
The villa is located inside a producing Chianti winery, surrounded by vineyards and olive groves all around it. A spacious terrace furnished with tables, chairs and umbrellas right in front of this villa invites the guest for cosy evenings with a glass of Chianti wine and splendid views of the surrounding nature and the delicious smell of Mediterranean vegetation. The villa keeps anyway its privacy and seclusion as it is completely fenced in and closed by a gate, having all its own garden and swimming pool area totally private.
The winery produces its own Chianti wine, Tuscan IGT wines, grappa, extra virgin olive oil and honey. There is a charming restaurant inside the farm, only 40 meters from the villa, where guests will be able to taste the best of the local food and purchase the products of the winery itself. You can arrange with the owners a guided wine and olive oil tasting at the place, upon request.
On the ground floor, you can access a spacious lounge area that is connected to the large kitchen. The most exciting feature of the kitchen is the original stone fireplace where it is still possible to prepare a great grill over the burning wood. The kitchen has a huge massive wooden table and seats for almost 20 people, more than the villa holds. All necessary equipments, cookware and table ware are provided. The kitchen has dishwasher, large fridge, oven and sink plus a washing machine in an extra laundry room.
The lounge leads to the first floor where a huge living room is located. This room can also be accessed from the back side trough an open terrace. The living room is featured by its original pieces of furniture, paintings, terracotta floors and vaulted ceilings. SAT TV and telephone line are available in the living room.
The formal dining room located in the ground floor is as spacious as the living room and holds a wonderful massive wooden table and chairs for the whole group together. On the ground floor there is a full bathroom equipped with a shower, WC, bidet and sink.
The second floor is the noble area of the villa. It holds a charming piano room, with sofas and chairs where to relax with a book or to chat with friends and a glass of wine. This room leads to the billiard room and a library with a charming fireplace. Each room is decorated with beautiful Renaissance frescoes and the ceilings are all covered of chestnut wood beams.
The second floor holds all bedrooms and two full bathrooms. Three bedrooms are very large and furnished with amazing hand carven wooden double beds from the 18th and 19th century, in addition to its wardrobes, dressers, chairs and carpets all valuable pieces of furniture. Two of the bedrooms are composed of two twin beds each, tastefully decorated with the typical coloured Tuscan clothes and pieces of period furniture.
All bathrooms have been recently renovated but have preserved two antique bathtubs and are also equipped with a new shower each, WC, sink and bidet. Please note that due to its size and disposition, this villa is not suitable for winter lets.
Mountain bike rental is available in the property, a tennis club is located at Cerbaia, a small village within 2 km from the villa, it is not necessary to be a member to play.
The private garden is shaded by centuries-old trees and graced with beautiful views of the family vineyard. Behind the house, hidden away in absolute privacy, are a spacious terrace and a broad lawn, where a barbecue and brick oven makes evening meals a delight.
The private swimming pool accessed by the back terrace is located in a strategic position with a wonderful view of the vineyards and a medieval village right in front of it. Recently built for the exclusive use of guests at the villa, the pool of 10 x 5 meters is shaded by oak and olive trees and offers an equipped solarium with a lovely gazebo, sun lounges, umbrellas, table and chairs.
Beside the villa, composing the landscape of the front classical Italian garden is a charming old chapel, still consecrated, where all members of the owners family have got married for generations. The closest village is San Casciano located only 8 km or 5 miles away where you will find a supermarket, cafes and shops. Also Montefiridolfi is a lovely medieval village close by where it is possible to find shops for basic needs. The location of this villa is totally central and excellent for day trips around the CHIANTI CASTLES and to the main cities of art like Florence and Siena.
The main villa is the large one in close-up, with the swimming pool right in front of it (at the bottom, on the right side of the picture). On the left side of the villa are the restaurant and the owner’s home, which is separated from the villa with a gate respecting the total privacy of guests. Behind the restaurant is a farm building that usually remains closed. The other building that can be seen on the back, with the swimming pool on its left side is another villa with apartments that belong to the same owner.
