VILLA GLICINE is a deluxe property with more than 100 years of history. It has been built in 1875 and has been recently restored with care turning the villa into a comfortable and modern holiday rental. The freestanding villa is surrounded by a large 12.000 square meters park with lush Mediterranean plants, flowers and trees. The beautiful garden with private swimming pool is well cared and totally fenced in - this is the perfect place to relax.
The Villa is located just 18 km south east of the historic city of Lucca and in walking distance of the lovely village of Orentano - also well known for the festival “Sagra della pizza e della birra” . The festival takes place during the summer months of June and July with all kinds of pizza and different beers. Come and try the local specialties.
The villa offers comfortable living space on 3 floors with a total of 360 square meters. The living and sleeping area is very spacious offering room for families or a group of friends up to 12 people. The house is equipped with high speed internet access and air-conditioning on the second floor. The covered veranda with tables, chairs and barbeque is perfect for outdoor meals at any time of the day.
Refreshing hours are guaranteed in the luxury swimming pool ( 6 x 12 meters, 1,10 m – 1.60 deep) with a hydro massage zone and roman steps for an easy access for children and elderly. The pool uses salted water without any chlorine and therefore is more pleasant for eyes and skin. The solarium and pool area is equipped with sun-umbrellas, deckchairs and an external shower. Enjoy the Tuscan sun and relaxing moments.
On the ground floor there is a living-dining room with elegant furniture and a charming open fireplace for cosy evening hours with a glass of good Chianti wine. For entertainment there are SAT-TV and DVD player. The ground floor offers 1 bathroom with shower, sink, WC, bidet. From the living room you’ll have direct access to the lovely garden.
The kitchen is well equipped with all facilities for any kind of delicious Italian meal. The open fireplace is great for barbecue meals. Here you’ll find all modern equipments: fridge with freezer, dishwasher, stove, electric oven, microwave, coffee machine and all tableware and pots. From the kitchen you have access to a covered terrace with table and chairs for outdoor meals.
Via an internal staircase you can reach the first floor where 3 bedrooms are located: 1 double bedroom with a lovely canopy bed and en-suite bathroom with hydro massage tub/shower. The next bedroom offers a double bed; another bedroom provides two twin beds. Both rooms share a private bathroom completely equipped with bathtub/shower, sink with mirror, WC and bidet.
A staircase leads to the 2. floor – the attic. Here you’ll find 1 double bedroom with air conditioning and charming fire-place for romantic moments with en suite bathroom and 2 double rooms with twin beds. There is an extra bathroom with a shower box, sink with mirror, WC and bidet.
All bedrooms have a big wardrobe, the furnishings are very well-cared – terracotta tiled floors, beamed ceilings, walls painted in pastel colors. The bathrooms offer all modern facilities and bathroom furniture is of best quality.
Villa GLICINE offers all kinds of services: A washing room provides a washing machine, drying machine, iron and iron board. All windows are protected with fly screens. There are safe parking lots on the property, Pets are allowed (please inform with reservation). On request optional services are offered like the use of high speed internet, a printer, daily cleaning or baby sitter. A cot or an extra bed can be placed as well.
The surroundings are perfect for many leisure activities: yon can rent mountain bikes or regular bicycles and discover the beautiful natural paths. Other recommend activities: tennis (4km), the professional golf course of Montecatino (15 km), horseback riding (5 km), fitness centre (7 km) and a thermal resort (15 km).
Just next to the villa (500 meters away) is the medieval town of Orentano with a traditional bakery (try the homemade bread and ice-cream), grocery and good restaurants - all within walking distance. There is a train station just 5 km away and the international airport of Pisa can be reached within 30 minutes.
The villa’s location is perfect for daytrips visiting the highlights of Tuscany. From the nearby town of Altopascio you have highway connecting to major art cities, like Lucca (19 km), Pisa (35 km) or Florence (55 km). Also the cities of Pistoia, Montecatino or Viareggio are all within easy reach. The ocean with fine sandy beaches can be reached within just 30 minutes.
